Whether you are still considering making the switch from Classic or you are looking to utilize Lightning to its fullest potential, here are some features to increase your team’s efficiency within Salesforce!

1. Kanban views

Kanban list views are an amazing way to visualize the record journey within Salesforce. Kanban works well to efficiently progress Opportunities, Cases, or Tasks into new stages or statuses without having to leave the list view. Just click and drag!

Another impactful element of Kanban is the ability to add new Tasks and Events to a record directly from the list view. This is an easy way to create follow-up reminders without interrupting your workflow.

2. Macros

Particularly useful for support teams, macros in Salesforce Lightning allow for multiple actions on a Case record at the click of a button. Send an email, change a record status, and update the record owner all by running a macro. Not only does this feature make your team quicker, but it also standardizes their processes.

While macros are available in Salesforce Classic, the Lightning UI is clean and easy to use. Salesforce also continues to improve on macros in Lighting with the relatively new ability to create conditional macros.

3. Path

The Path component in Lightning is a simple way to keep your team on track while giving them keys to success along the way. In its basic form, the Path component is a great way to see the status of your record at a glance and enables easy status changes. But with just a little more effort, you are able to build out and customize the Path component to display associated key fields and guidance for your team at each step in the record’s progression.

One added bonus of the Path component is a setting called Salesforce Celebration which allows you to celebrate accomplishments by displaying confetti for selected steps along the Path.

4. Activity Timeline

Activities can easily create clutter within Salesforce. Before you know it, your team can start to get lost in the noise of Tasks and Events that continue to pile up with the addition of every new user and Activity-creating tool. Help your team stay organized with the Activity Timeline. This component sorts your Activities into what’s old and what’s up next to allow your team to focus on what’s most important. Quickly check an upcoming task as complete from the Activity Timeline or click on the arrow to the left of an Activity to view a preview of the record.

One of the major benefits of the Activity Timeline is the ability to filter activities by assigned, created date, and type. Users can speedily sift through the Activity Timeline to only show Activities assigned to them without having to read through all the Activities on the record.

5. Streamlined Page Layouts

One of the most time-consuming elements of using Salesforce can be slowly scrolling through an entire record to find a small piece of information. With the Lightning App Builder, you can simply drag and drop components onto the layout in a way that’s easier for you and your team to navigate. Stop the endless scrolling by moving information into tabs with custom labels, easy-to-access sidebars, and the record highlights panel in the header.

For records used by multiple teams, grant component visibility based on their team profile to keep each team from getting lost in unnecessary fields. If record details are only important for certain users, declutter the layout by only showing those fields to users who need them. Component visibility can also be conditional based on how fields are populated.
